Athlete Nutrition: Meet Alana Nichols

Nuzest is pleased to introduce Alana Nichols as its newest sports influencer. Alana is a Paralympic wheelchair basketball player and alpine skier. Let’s take a moment to get to know Alana Nichols.

Q. For those of us who don’t know you, who is Alana Nichols?
A. I am the 3rd child of 4 born in Farmington, NM. A life-long athlete and relatively recent vegetarian (just over a year ago), I played 3 sports in high school until I broke my back in a snowboarding accident while attempting a backflip. After my accident, I reinvented myself as an adaptive athlete and became the first female American to gold medal in the summer and winter games (wheelchair basketball and Alpine Skiing).

Q. What does being a Nuzest ambassador mean to you?
A. It feels great to supplement my already healthy diet with a plant-based protein. It’s important to me to surround myself with like-minded people and know that consumers of the Nuzest product are living their best lives. You are who you associate with, and I choose to associate with the best!

Q. How do you make healthy choices and avoid temptations when it comes to your nutrition?
A. I make sure I dont put myself in a desperate position. If I am painfully hungry, like most humans, I am vulnerable and will grab whatever is in front of me to ease the pain. I use Nuzest to stay consistent and in control.

Q. What is your favorite indulgence?
A. Coffee flavored gelato!

Q. What is your favorite healthy snack?
A. Hummus and veggies or nut-based crackers

Q. How do you stay active and fit?
A. I like to do something fun and active everyday and also weight train 3+ times a week.

Q. What is your favorite form of exercise?
A. Surfing!

Q. What are your favorite songs on your workout playlist these days?
A. I listen to Spotify, so there is always something new coming into my ears. I love folk and blue-eyed soul music.

Q. What do you do for fun?
A. Ski and Surf. I also love watching movies and seeing live music.

Q. What advice do you have for people wanting to kick-start a healthy lifestyle or to pump up their nutrition?
A. “One good decision leads to another.” Just start with something positive (walking, working out, eating healthy) and it will snowball!
