Athlete Nutrition: Meet Ice Hockey Player Bailey Bram

Nuzest is pleased to introduce Bailey Bram as its sports influencer. Bailey is a professional ice hockey player for the Canadian Women’s National Ice Hockey Team. Let’s take a moment to get to know ice hockey player Bailey Bram.

Q. For those of us who don’t know you, who is Bailey Bram?

A. I’m a member of the Canadian Women’s National Ice Hockey Team. I grew up in Manitoba, Canada, and I have a marketing degree from Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania where I played NCAA Women’s Division 1 College Hockey.

Q. What does being a NuZest ambassador mean to you?

A. I LOVE being a part of the Nuzest team! With all my food intolerances, and the amount that we get drug tested for sport, it is so amazing knowing that I can rely on Nuzest to provide my body with a delicious tasting and clean protein to help my body recover. The staff at Nuzest has believed in me every step of the way and encouraged me to go after my dream of winning an Olympic medal and I am so thankful and blessed to be a part of this great company!

Q. How do you make healthy choices and avoid temptations when it comes to athlete nutrition?

A. It isn’t always easy, life happens! But I love to plan in advance by meal prepping and always having healthy snacks available for when a craving comes along!

Q. What is your favorite indulgence?

A. I love candy! Anyone who knows me knows that candy is the way to my heart lol! (Swedish Fish, Sour Patch Kids, candy watermelon etc. – but I’m not picky!!)

Q. What is your favorite healthy snack?

A. It depends on the time of the year really. I go through different phases, but right now my favorite snack is a Chocolate protein shake (truly tastes like a chocolate milkshake!) I combine 1 serving of Rich Chocolate Clean Lean Protein, 1 frozen banana, some ice, about a cup of cashew milk (or any milk), 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder, some spinach (as much as desired, I swear you won’t taste it!) – blend and voila, a delicious chocolate shake!

Q. Beyond athlete nutrition, when not on the ice, how do you stay active and fit?

A. I love to try different things! In the off-season, I love to run, swim, play tennis, weight-train, rollerblade, hike, kick-box, golf, do yoga and play baseball. I am a true believer that staying active keeps you happy, and I love trying new things to give my workouts some variety!

Q. What is your favorite form of exercise (besides skating and ice hockey)?

A. I would have to say swimming or playing tennis! There is something about being outside in the lake swimming that just makes my heart so happy! On the other hand, the competitive side of me loves the challenge of playing an intense tennis match!

Q. What are your favorite songs on your workout playlist these days?

A. I’m a huge sucker for Bieber’s new album – I can’t say enough good things! But I’m a country girl at heart, so usually just whatever Spotify throws at me that day will do!

Q. Aside from being an ice hockey superstar and all-around stellar athlete, what do you do for fun?

A. I love to read, cook and bake. I’m always looking to try fun new recipes and make them healthy! And that made me sound old! I also love to go out with friends, golf and spend time with family!

Q. What advice do you have for people wanting to kick-start a healthy lifestyle or apply basic athlete nutrition?

A. If I can do it, so can you! There will be times when you feel like giving up, and there will be days when you binge or feel like quitting, but remember you are human and nobody is perfect! It’s all about balance and finding what works for you and your body! I promise if you stick with it though you will love how you feel!

If want to get the most from your sport and keep performing at the highest level you need to recover properly. Clean Lean Protein is the ideal protein supplement to help you do that and support an active lifestyle.
